blood, sweat and 2nd gear: cover imagei've been writing a medical column in citybike magazine for anumber of years: my book blood, sweat, and gears: ramblings on citybike logomotorcycling and medicine, was a collection of these columns. unfortunately, it's out of print at this time.

i have a monthly medical column in motorcycle consumer® news. it’s a lot of fun to write, and i’m alwayopeMCN logon to suggestions for topics to write about in new columns. my e-mail address is at the bottom of  this page, my new book   blood, sweat and 2nd gear: more medicine for motorcyclists will be published by whitehorse press in august 2007. it's bigger (and i think, better) than the old book, and has all new material based in large part on column published in MCN. click here to order.

i've been online since 1980 or so, when i signed up for the source while living in boston. as far as i know, it doesn't exist anymore (the source, not boston).

since 1985, i've been active on the Well. I've hosted the medical conference, as well as the jokes, and men on the well conferences. I founded and hosted the sailing, motorcycling, flying conferences, among others, too. click here to see my .plan file on the well.

i joined the electronic frontier foundation when it started: in fact, i recall e-mailing john perry barlow's piece about his visit from agent baxter that he posted on the Well to my friend john gilmore when it first came out. john tells me that it helped him get hooked up with the other EFF founders: i'm proud of that.
